MOTHER OF GOD
Words are used according to their meaning. We use words to express our thoughts, so to understand anything, we must first of all seek to understand the meaning of the word used and the context in which it is used and compare it with the different context in which it could legally be used.
It was word that Satan twisted for Eve that got her feet off from the foundation of truth. Both truth and lies are words, therefore understanding a word and the context it can be used is very important in differentiating between truths and lies. The phrase “mother of God” has two important words that explained it. The first word is mother and the second one is God. We have to look at what these two words mean and the context in which they can legally be used so that we can see whether it is an error to use it in reference to God.
MOTHER:
A mother is someone or something that gives birth to or exercises protective care over someone or something of its kind or of a different kind. So, the mother of God will mean someone who gave birth to God or exercises a protective care over God. It should be like a mold from which God was made.
GOD:
God is Spirit who is self-existing and also self-sufficient needing no help nor having any limitations. If God is self-existing, it then means that He will not have been made or been given birth to and if He is self-sufficient, then it also means that no one could exercise a protective care over him. Even if we should assume that God though being a Spirit do have a mother, the mother must also be Spirit as Jesus explained.
A spirit can only give birth to a spirit and a flesh also can only give birth to a flesh. A flesh cannot give birth to a Spirit and a Spirit cannot give birth to a flesh. Human beings give birth to flesh and Spirit is given from God who is Spirit and the Father of spirit.
BLESSED MARY.
Mother of God is used as a title for blessed Mary who is highly revered as the gestational surrogate mother of Jesus.
Mary was a Jewish virgin undergoing marriage process to become officially married to Joseph of the tribe of Judah in Israel. Some marriage rites must have been performed, but she was not yet fully married to Joseph which made the bible said she was engaged to Joseph. She was a complete human being with complete human genetics.
She conceived by the power of the Most High through the transformation act of the Holy Spirit and gave birth to Jesus without ovulation and without sexual intercourse. The embryo she received from which Jesus was born did not come from human seeds of ovum and sperm. There was nothing from her DNA or from any other human being that was in the embryo. As a virgin gestational surrogate, she retained her virginity status after the birth of Jesus because the process does not affect virginity as there is no sexual intercourse nor insemination of a human male seed.
Joseph retained Mary at the instruction of God and waited for her to give birth to Jesus after which they carried on with their marriage. As couples, they went on to have other children of their own. So, Joseph actually married Mary as a virgin and knew her as a virgin satisfying their Jewish religious requirement.
Angel Gabriel who brought the message to Mary greeted her saying she is blessed among women because of what God has chosen to do through her, but the child to be born shall be called the Son of God because the child will be conceived completely from divine Seed. The child will not come from human seed and will take no gene from any human being, not even from Mary in whose womb the child shall develop flesh. Later when Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, she declared while speaking by the Holy Spirit that all generations shall call her blessed for the reason of the same thing the Angel announced to her (Luke 1:26-56).
To be called blessed in all generation is how God honored Mary for God’s divine purpose she fulfilled. The right title for Mary is “Blessed Mary” and not mother of God.
Jesus does not have human ancestry and never claimed any human ancestry. The Jews frequently claimed that Abraham is their ancestral father while Jesus claimed that God is his ancestral Father. They felt highly offended when Jesus told them that he was before Abraham. They referred to Jesus as someone still under the age of 50 but already claiming to have seen Abraham who lived thousands of years ago. Jesus never called himself a descendant of Abraham and did not support any assertion linking him to any human ancestry even to David. John 8: 37-59.
MOTHER OF GOD.
Mother of God is a title used by some Christian denominations to refer to Blessed Mary who is highly revered as the gestational surrogate mother of Jesus. She conceived by the power of the Most High through the act of the Holy Spirit and gave birth to Jesus.
The phrase ‘Mother of God’ was put together out of logical thinking. The line of logic here comes from the fact that many believe and taught that Jesus was and is God. Meaning that Jesus was conceived as God, born as God, lived as God, died as God and resurrected as God. So, if Jesus was and is God and Mary was the mother of Jesus who was God in the womb, at birth and on earth, then clearly Mary is the mother of God. This is using human reasoning to understand spiritual things just as Jesus told Nicodemus.
The above logic has two pillars on which it was built. The first is that Mary is the mother of Jesus and the second is that Jesus is God. Constructing a family structure for Jesus according to human family structure is what brought about the mother of God title for the blessed Mary. Human family structure is never the same as spiritual family structure.
As we mentioned earlier, Jesus does not have human ancestry because he was not conceived from any human seeds neither ovum nor sperm. He has no biological father nor mother. Blessed Mary was the gestational surrogate mother of Jesus and not the biological mother. So, she does not have any genetical connection with Jesus.
The seed of Jesus was placed into Mary’s womb as a fetus or an embryo already conceived. Mary was a gestational surrogate in whose womb Jesus developed human flesh and from whose womb he was delivered into the world in flesh. Jesus actually do not have any human genealogy. He was not a biological product that came from the mixture of human seeds of ovum and sperm.
Mary was a complete human being and could not have given birth biological to someone who has the spiritual seed and no humans seed. Jesus said to Nicodemus “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:6. Spirit seed of Jesus incubated in the womb of Mary to develop flesh. we have heard of test-tube babies who were born through embryo that was incubated in a test-tube. The test-tube was not considered as the mother of the born baby.
It should not be a surprise to notice that Jesus always refers to Mary as woman and never called her mother. When he was on the cross, he spoke prophetically to the blessed Mary saying “Woman, behold your son!” and to the disciple he said, “Behold your mother!” He showed by this statement that he was not part of their human nature and structure. He was not our kind that has mothers and sons because he came completely from God as a different kind of man from the Adamic kind of man. The nature of the Adamic kind of man shall not inherit the kingdom. Only the Christ kind of man shall inherit the kingdom of God. We shall receive the nature of the Christ kind of man through new birth. Jesus was the first of the kind of the new man to have in him the Spirit of Christ.
Secondly, Jesus is the Son of God and not God. Spiritual family relationship is not the same as human family relationship so that we can say like Father like Son. God is one and only the Father is God. God’s family structure is not a reproductive structure like the human family where you have father, mother, sons and daughters. Family of God is about the nature of the Spirit of God and not about gene as in human family. The Spirit of Christ in Jesus is God’s Spirit of Sonship and whoever that receives the Spirit of Christ will receive a new birth and become a son of God. John 1:12-13.
Therefore, sons of God are not God because they are not genetic descendants of God. God does not have descendants because God is one. For instance, Angels are sons of God also. They do not have the Spirit of Christ because they are not human beings. Only human beings shall have the Spirit of Christ which will place them above angels in hierarchy in the coming new order.
The Lord God our heavenly Father does not have a mother and there is none beside Him that is God. Jesus is the Son of God who God the Father exulted as Lord. By him God who is the Father shall judge the living and the dead and shall rule over the new universe.
The concept of mother of god is associated with gods. These gods have wives and their wives are called mother of gods and mother of goddesses because they have male offspring who are also gods and female offspring are goddesses. This title has nothing to do with the true God who created everything. This kind of title can only be used for the gods who were portrayed to have the same family structure as humans.
Jesus came as Spirit seed from God who was sent as the new mankind who God’s kingdom was actually made for who is different from the Adamic mankind. Adamic mankind has the spirit of man in them but Jesus came with the Spirit of Christ which is the new Spirit for the new mankind which are the kind of humans who shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Jesus consistently claimed he is the Son of God (John 10:35) and the testimonies of the apostles and the Holy Spirit supported this truth. Below are what is written concerning who Jesus is:
“Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, “I said, ‘You are gods”’? If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?” John 10:34-36.
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15.
“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God…… Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:1, 5.
We cannot assume because the Jews called Mary the mother of Jesus, that it was right. The question is whether they were also right to call Jesus the son of Joseph the carpenter? And did they not as well call Jesus the son of David? Were they right referring to Jesus with all these maternity and paternity. Jesus pushed back all the time whenever they called him by these three names because they did not understand very well who Jesus was.
It was religious errors such as this one that actually hardened their heart to believe everything Jesus said and did to prove to them who he is. The same error teaching about who the Christ is has remained a real danger which works to make people to reject truth and God’s salvation that is in Christ.
Jesus asked the Jews why they say the Christ is the son of David when David himself called Christ his Lord. They were interpreting literally the prophecy about Christ which mentioned his mission relationship to David. The prophecy discussed the spiritual relationship between David and the Christ in regards to the throne of God, but the people took it literally as a physical relationship whereby they see and referred to the Christ as the son of David.
“And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: ‘The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’ Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?” Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, “Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”” Luke 20:41-47
If the Christ could not be the son of David because David calls him Lord, how then could Mary be the mother of God when she said she is God’s handmaid?
Jesus told them to beware of the scribes who were the teachers of spiritual matters in those days because they were teaching and spreading religious errors. The error has continued in our days spreading faster with the help of technology. Religious doctrines are full of errors as Jesus vehemently pointed out in all his interactions with the Jews.
If Jesus wondered how the Scribes could teach the people erroneously that the Christ is son of David, how much more surprised he will be to see that the present-day Scribes are teaching that Mary is the mother of God. This is clearly a demonstration of lack of understanding of who God is. God is God, He is always God and cannot change in whatever way you can think of. He cannot become human by being born from a human seed. He cannot die because He is immortal. These are the attributes of God that cannot change.
Human heart is always towards idolatry. Humans have a great tendency to worship anything that looks or behaves superior to them. They believe more strongly in what they see than what is invincible to them.
If blessed Mary is not the biological mother of Jesus and Jesus is not God, then how could Mary be the mother of God? Unless if Mary is said to be the mother of the heavenly Father who alone is God. This will actually be the height of absurdity.
God is not a man and can never be a man and God is not the same like idol gods. The doctrine concept of mother of God is one of the doctrines taught by demons.
CONCLUSION:
Does God have a mother? The answer is no. God does not have a mother. God is Spirit and not a flesh. Motherhood is for humans and animals. God as Spirit does not give birth, He cause things to exist. He makes exact things and is super scientific (omniscient). “That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him (Abraham), “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.” Romans 4:17. NLT
God is one and He creates new things out of nothing. He is the cause of existence and do not have beginning. Human beings are just one part of existence in whom God is revealed. No human being can be God even though a human being can have as much as the fullness of God and God cannot be human even though He could manifest His full qualities through humans.
The doctrine of the mother of God is a religious error which seems as if it has nothing to do with true faith. The truth is that it does have lots to do with the true faith because it is an error. Error is a strategy to keep many from coming to God and from believing in Jesus Christ the captain of our salvation. Pointing it out and addressing it has become necessary and important as we have seen the end fast approaching. We also understand like Daniel that this time is when we need to guard the truth with all diligence “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11.
Lies and falsehood about God and about Jesus is the major reason many do not come to God and do not want to believe the truth about Jesus Christ. The simplest thing to do to make people not to believe the truth is to tell lies about the truth or corrupt the truth with fables and myths. Correcting these errors opens the door for many to come to God and believe in Jesus the Christ of God through whom souls shall be saved.
For instance, God said He sent His son into the world who came and died to establish salvation for all mankind but the father of lies changed it saying it was God who came down Himself and died. God cannot be immortal and still died no matter the kind of death. When you say things about God which are not true, you will definitely keep people who seeks for the truth away from coming to God.
The error concept of a mother of God has provided Satan with the opportunity to keep many from believing the truth of God’s Gospel and it plays directly into Satan’s desire to make humans see God as any other idol gods who has mothers in a family structure like humans.
The next thing is if the doctrine of mother of God has any negative impact to faith and salvation. The answer also is yes as all errors were developed, introduced and propagated to achieve a given goal which mainly is to corrupt the truth and make everybody think there is nothing like one true God who is self-existence. Error hardens the heart of those who have not believed so that they will not see God as who He is and make Believers who believe not to have singleness of heart so as not to focus one Go.
Equating God with anyone or anything diminishes the supremacy of God. The worst is to equate God to humans or to idol gods through such doctrinal concept like the mother of God or many persons in God.
“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.” Isaiah 40:25.
